The Report opens with ‘Children benefit greatly from the extensive outdoor surroundings, including the woodlands, farm garden and extremely well-resourced outdoor play areas’ and goes on to note ‘The standard of hygiene is exceptional. Toilet and hand-washing facilities have been installed at the woodland sites - as a result, children can picnic in the woods following their activities.’
Nursery Manager, Lyn Boyle, says that “We make the most of our enviable location at Manor Farm Animal Centre & Woodlands to offer the very best to every child in our care and have protective, all-weather clothing to help us ensure that children learn as much outdoors as indoors.”
Ofsted’s comment was that ‘Children have an excellent understanding of living things because they receive exciting opportunities to engage in and observe this. The premises are extremely well organised allowing all children to develop their independence as they flow between different, well-resourced, activities, e.g. singing and music sessions in the dedicated music room and the woods.’
Ofsted conclude with ‘All children behave well because staff are positive role models (and know the children extremely well, planning and providing very effectively for their individual needs). More importantly, children are actively engrossed in their learning so they behave impeccably.'
Lyn’s response? “I am so proud of my Nursery team, many of whom have been with me for over 10 years – this inspection has summed so much up for us.”
